Painting in my home studio is a great retreat and relaxation from my daily busyness. I paint with oils on canvas. This painting I am working on is called Path Near Athabasca Falls. My painting inspiration comes from the pictures I have taken while taking my grandchildren to Jasper. This path invites you to take a stroll into the forest from the path along the falls. My second painting (just finished), Down the Cutline is from a photo taken in the North during a hunting trip. I am always shooting - but with my camera, at scenery that peaks my interest.

Camping in Jasper with my family when our children were young was a favourite
holiday location. I captured this peaceful image of Lac Beauvert on a trip there
several years ago.
This scene of the iconic lake in front of Jasper Park Lodge evokes lovely memories
of times gone by as I hope it does for those viewing it.

Next up…..
The glaze is hardly dry on this very recently completed landscape I call “Winter’s Morning”. Measuring 24”w X 30”h, this acrylic on canvas piece is priced at $750. I have wanted to try painting a more drastically colourful sky for a while, and I had an image of one of the trails found in Edmonton’s river valley on file, so this is the result. I was satisfied with how the sunrise turned out and that overall I still managed to create a painting that is more or less consistent with the style I have been developing. This particular piece will not be included in the Peron Bookstore showing, as I hope to save it for one of the Guild bi-annual shows.
Lastly, here is a picture of me with some of my work from Rachel Notley’s "Art From the Unknown” an annual show this past November which is sponsored by the former Premier. As I reached my photo library I realized that I have very few pictures of myself! So I hope this one works.

I enjoy painting subjects from nature, particularly florals, inspired by my mom, in a loose, playful style.
